Rushey Green is the A21 running north from the Catford one-way system, and it is the busiest stretch of anything we cover. The housing is flats over the shops, post-war blocks set back off the main road, and side streets behind them. Oven slots on the main road
Catford and Catford Bridge face each other across the road at the south end. For an oven clean, where the heated tank runs off the van for two hours, give us the road and the house number when you ring and we pick a slot that suits the street.
Flats over shops work differently from houses
Access is usually one door between two shopfronts and a straight staircase up, with no lift and nowhere to set anything down on the way. Kit goes up a load at a time and it is slow. Extraction hose runs up the stairwell, which we can do, and the extra set-up time is allowed for rather than charged for. The kitchens in these flats are small, and the extractor almost always recirculates back into the room instead of venting outside, so the grease ends up on the ceiling and the wall units as much as in the filter. That makes the £28 extractor the line that actually earns its money here, more so than in any house on the round. A full hob strip is £23 alongside it.
What we get called out for
Mostly move-out cleans, because the flats above the shops turn over faster than the houses on the estates behind them. That is £207 for a one bedroom and £243 for two, fixed on the call. After that it is ovens, and a steady trickle of deep cleans where a flat has been let badly for years and somebody has finally taken it back. A small one bathroom reset with a single cleaner meets the £67 one off minimum rather than the £186 team figure, and we will point you at the cheaper one when it is the right answer.
The council is at the top of the road
Laurence House and Lewisham Town Hall sit on Catford Road at the head of the one-way system, which is where tenancy paperwork eventually lands. What you get from us is a dated invoice and a written list of what was cleaned, which is exactly what an adjudicator looks for. If a clerk marks something down, ring inside 48 hours and it gets redone at no charge.
Ten bus routes and a two year road job
The 47, 54, 75, 136, 171, 181, 185, 199, 202 and 208 all converge on the town centre, which is why the pavements are busy and the traffic crawls. It is also why most of our cleaners can reach this stretch without a car, and there is no Underground station in SE6 to help them. The A205 through the town centre is going to be realigned and the Plassy Island one-way system taken out, a scheme TfL already has consent for and which is expected to take something like two years from 2026, so journey times along this stretch will move about for a while, and we check the current layout the day before each job.
