Housework on a standing booking costs £23 per cleaner per hour in Catford if it is weekly, or £24 if it is fortnightly, which puts three hours at £69 or £72. Ironing is £12 an hour on top of the cleaning time. The same cleaner keeps the same house for as long as the rota lets her, and the reason is simple: visit two is quicker than visit one. There is nothing to sign, and the £67 one off minimum does not touch a regular round.

Frequency Rate, per cleaner per hour A three hour visit
Weekly £23 £69
Fortnightly £24 £72
Ironing, on top of the cleaning hours £12

The difference between the two rates is just how much has accumulated. A fortnight of dust takes longer to shift than a week of it. Nothing under three hours gets booked, because below that the kit spends more of the slot being unpacked and repacked than being used.

What decides how long a Catford house needs

Bedrooms tell you less than you would think. What actually sets the length of a visit here is the bathroom and how much scale it is holding, and after that the floor area strung out along a long narrow plan. A three bedroom Corbett terrace is deceptive: the rooms are generous, the hall runs the full depth of the house, and the staircase off the front door is its own job every week. Three hours suits most of them. Four if there are two bathrooms or a dog. The two-up two-downs on the tighter plots off the estate are genuinely quicker, and a three hour visit, our shortest, covers them comfortably.

What gets done on a visit

Worktops and the fronts of the kitchen units, the sink, the taps and the top of the hob. Bathrooms including the screen, the loo and the floor round it. Floors hoovered and mopped, dusting and skirtings, mirrors and the inside faces of glass. Beds changed if you leave the linen out, bins put out on the day if you tell us which day that is. Ironing runs at £12 an hour on top of the booked cleaning time, so the bathroom keeps its hours. Inside the oven is a separate booking at £77 rather than something to squeeze into a weekly slot, and carpets are the same.

Limescale, every single visit

Thames Water runs this supply at around 300 ppm. A shower screen clouds over again within a fortnight whatever anybody does to it, kettles fur, and the original glazed tiling in the older houses holds a film that only shifts with an acid product and some patience. That is the water rather than the cleaner. Descaling the screen, the taps and the kettle is part of every regular visit in this postcode, which is not true in the soft water half of the country, and it is one of the reasons a Catford visit is booked at three hours or more rather than squeezed into ninety minutes. It is not an extra and it never appears as a separate line.

How your cleaner actually gets to you

There is no Underground station in SE6, so nobody is arriving by tube. Catford and Catford Bridge face each other across the road and both are used, along with the buses that converge on the town centre and the DLR up at Lewisham for anybody coming from the north. So a 9am start is easier to hold than a 7.30am one. The South Circular works starting in 2026 will move journey times around the town centre for a couple of years, so on the first visit to a new road we allow for it.

Keys, key safes and no back way in

Most of the regular round is worked from a key, and most of our households are at work when the cleaner comes. A key safe by the front door is the tidiest arrangement and costs very little from any hardware shop. Anything we hold comes back whenever you ask. Worth knowing about the housing here: the terraces mostly have a side return with no gate onto the street, so there is no back door route from outside. Tell us how the alarm works at the start rather than on the morning something goes wrong.

Cover, on the weeks she cannot come

The point of a standing booking is that the same person keeps turning up. Somebody who has cleaned your kitchen eight times is quicker than somebody seeing it for the first time and knows which cupboard the bin bags live in without asking. Holidays and illness happen. When they do the phone goes the evening before with a named stand-in or a different day on offer, or you can skip the week. No stranger is ever put on your doorstep without warning. Asking for a different cleaner is fine too, and nobody will press you for a reason.

Changing or stopping the visits

Twenty four hours notice moves or skips a visit, and holidays are fine, just say. Moving from weekly to fortnightly puts the rate to £24 an hour for the reason above. There is no notice period and no contract to get out of.

Starting with a deep clean

A weekly visit holds a house steady. Where a place has got well away from somebody, the sensible order is a one off team deep clean from £186 to reset it and then a weekly or fortnightly slot to keep it there, which works out better than paying for a reset twice a year. The oven sits outside the hourly work at £77 for a single, and carpets start at £36 a room. We have weekly houses all over the Corbett streets and up at Hither Green, plus a run of fortnightly ones on the cottage estate at Bellingham. Every rate is on the prices page. Questions we get asked

How much is a weekly cleaner in Catford?

Weekly visits are £23 per cleaner per hour and fortnightly ones £24, which puts three hours at £69 or £72. Ironing is £12 an hour on top of the cleaning hours, and there is nothing to sign.

How many hours do I need?

Three hours is the shortest visit we book, and it covers a small flat, a two-up two-down or most three bedroom Corbett terraces. Allow four if there are two bathrooms or a dog. Bathroom scale predicts the length here better than the bedroom count does.

Do I get the same cleaner each time?

Yes, wherever the rota allows. When she is ill or away the phone goes the evening before with a named stand-in or another day on offer, or you can skip the week. Nobody ever turns up unannounced.

Do I need to be at home?

No. Most of the regular round runs from a key or a key safe by the front door, so nobody needs to stay in.

Do you bring your own products and machines?

Yes, both. If you would rather we used yours because of an allergy, a pet or a particular floor, that is fine, just say when you book.

Is a deep clean the same thing?

No. A deep clean is a one off team job at £26 per cleaner per hour plus £30 of kit, starting at £186 for two cleaners over three hours. The regular visit is a different service at a lower hourly rate, and it is what holds a house steady after a deep clean has reset it.
